Where we meet

IN CLAREMONT, CA
AT Western Christian School

It’s basic, simple, and we love it! That’s right. Basketball hoops. Bleachers. We set up and tear down each Sunday. It’s THAT kinda deal. There’s plenty of parking, rooms for kids to meet, and outdoor space to spread out when we have an event or the kids need to burn off energy. We would love to see you join us for our worship gathering on Sunday mornings at 10 AM. We hope to see you soon!

Mission Statement

The mission of Ignite City Church is to LOVE GOD, to LOVE PEOPLE, and to MAKE DISCIPLES who make DISCIPLE-MAKERS.

Values of Ignite City CHurch

Ignite City Church will be…

  • A Gospel-centered community.
  • A worshiping community.

Ignite City Church: what we believe

God

We believe in the eternal + triune God as revealed to us in the Scriptures (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each person of the Trinity being fully God and yet collectively being one God. Genesis 1:1; John 1:1; John 1:14; Colossians 1:15-17; Mark 12:29; Luke 3:22; John 14:9; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:1-3

The Father

We believe that the Father is the eternal and sovereign Creator; the faithful, good, infinite and holy Father who loved the world so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, in order to rescue those who surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. Isaiah 64:8; Matthew 6:8-9; Matthew 7:11; Matthew 23:9; John 14:6-7; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 4:6; James 1:17; 1 Peter 1:3

Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, fully God and fully man, begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, sinless in word, thought, and deed. We believe that he was crucified in our place, was buried, and was resurrected three days later, having victory of sin and death, and now graciously and passionately offers forgiveness of sin and righteousness to those who place their trust in him.
Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-2; John 1:14; John 14:6; Romans 3:24-25; Romans 8:34; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; Hebrews 4:14-16; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:24

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts the world of sin, pointing them to Jesus. We believe that he indwells and sanctifies each disciple of Jesus when he/she surrenders to the Lordship of Jesus, and who leads, guides, gifts, helps, convicts, encourages, and empowers the Church to accomplish the will of God.
John 14:6-7; John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 1:13-14

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible, consisting of both the Old and New Testaments, is the very God-breathed inerrant word of God and is the final authority that we base our lives on. We believe the Bible, from cover to cover, is the beautiful story of the Gospel, telling us about Jesus and the life that he offers. As we walk with and abide in Jesus, through regular time spent with him reading His word, the Holy Spirit reveals his heart + will for us.

Luke 24:27; Luke 24:44; John 5:39; Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12 John 14:6-7; John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 2:12; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 1:13-14

Humanity + Sin

We believe that every person is created in the very image of God and therefore has intrinsic value, designed and fashioned by God to bring him glory. However, we also believe that because of our rebellion which started in the garden with Adam and Eve, every person is inherently sinful and in rebellion against God, in need of reconciliation with God that only comes through confessing one’s sin and placing one’s trust in Jesus as Lord–a salvation that is by grace through faith.
Genesis 1:27; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 3:22-23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:1-3

Becoming a Follower of Jesus

We believe that being made right with God is a gracious gift that is received by grace through faith, not the result of works, by surrendering to Jesus as Lord by repenting from sin and placing one’s faith and trust in the saving work of Jesus.
John 3:5-8; John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 10:19-25

The Christian Life

We believe that the process of discipleship is a life-long journey and loving relationship with our Creator whose desire is to conform us into the likeness of his Son through the sanctifying working of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:12-13; Philippians 3:10-16; Ephesians 2:10; Romans 12:9-21

The Church

We believe that the church is the community of Christ-followers, forgiven and reconciled to God through Jesus, whose mission is to fulfill the Great Commission (to make, baptize and instruct disciples) and the Great Commandment (to love God and people), ushering in the reality of reconciliation, both between God and people as well as between people and each other while edifying the the church through the use of spiritual gifts.
Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 4:1-16; Colossians 1:18; 1 Peter 4:10-11

Eternity

We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus. We believe that every person is created for eternity, either eternity with God for those who have been reconciled to God through the redemptive work of Jesus, or eternity away from God in hell for those who do not receive God’s forgiveness through surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus.
Matthew 25:31-46; John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 20:1-15; Revelation 21-22

Brian holland

Hi there. My name is Brian and I love Jesus.

I also get to be the pastor of the Ignite City Church community. I’ve lived in southern California my entire life (you can go ahead and guess how many years that is). I’m married to Kelley and have two sons, Tyler and Dylan. I’ve been serving in a pastoral role (youth pastor, young adults pastor, and now lead pastor) since 1997, all in southern California. My favorite place to eat is this amazing hawaiian bbq place in Rancho. I’m a Dodger’s fan and prefer college football over pro (go Sooners).

My heart’s desire is to help God’s people do three key things, which describe the mission of our church commitment: to love God, to love people, and to make disciples who make disciple-makers.

Alyssa Braum

Hello! My name is Alyssa Braum, and I am the children’s pastor here at Ignite City Church.

I’ve lived in southern California my entire life and have been married for over a decade with two wonderful kids.  I’ve served in children’s ministry since 2015, and I love it! My heart is for every kid to know God, to know how much He loves them, and for their hearts to be ignited for Jesus!  I am equally passionate about family ministry, equipping and encouraging parents to be the primary disciplers in their homes so that families can be a light for Jesus in their communities.

Our theme verse in Ignite City Kids is Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”.

Hailey Lopez

Hey! My name is Hailey, and I am honored to get to lead the community of Ignite City Church in musical worship each week.

I have served in church music ministry in Southern California for the last 11 years in student ministries, college, and church worship teams. I am married to the absolute best drummer out there (whom I met doing worship ministry), and we are having a blast serving each other and serving Jesus together. I am so passionate about worshiping God through music and have found such refreshment in how the Lord transforms the hearts and souls of His people in both corporate and private worship.

My prayer and hope for Ignite City Church are that we would continue to be a community of eager worshippers, and embody Romans 12:1, saying to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship”.

Zach crawford

Hello there! I’m Zach, and I have the privilege of being the Youth & Young Adults Pastor at Ignite City Church.

I’m also a SoCal native, and have had the opportunity to serve and mentor youth in a variety of different settings, whether that’s been as a swim coach since 2011, a junior high/high school history teacher for seven years, and now as a pastor here at Ignite City.

My amazing wife Shawna and I have been married since 2016 and coach together, which is how we started dating. I’m a part of multiple “fandoms”, including Star Wars, DC comics, Lord of the Rings, and The Chosen.

My hope is that every student and young adult will continue to grow deeper in their knowledge, love, and desire to follow Christ, which Paul describes perfectly in some of my favorite verses, Philippians 3:10-14.

Sundays

We come together each week on Sunday mornings at 10am for worship, teaching, and community. We consider ourselves a big family and would love for you to join us and be a part of that family. We meet in a gym, so it’s very casual and simple. We offer kids ministry for ages 0-5th grade. Students, grades 6-12, are encouraged to worship with their families.

Home Churches

Home churches are smaller missional communities within Ignite City Church that meet together for dinner, worship, prayer and time in the word on a regular basis. Instead of them being age-specific, we have intentionally kept them open for all ages, encouraging parents to bring their kids with them like a family gathering. Every person who is part of a home church is encouraged to reach out to others to bring them into the home church, loving and caring for them with a desire to see everyone follow Jesus.

Our current home churches meet on the following days in the following places:

Randy + Judy | Rancho/Fontana

2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:00 pm

Dick + Diane | LaVerne

Wednesdays at 6:00 pm

Brian | Upland

Wednesdays at 6:00 pm

Every other week on Thursday evenings

D Groups

As long as someone is following Jesus, that person should be helping others follow Him.

Discipleship groups (D-Groups) are small groups of 3-5 followers of Jesus (gender specific) who commit to 12-18 months together, meeting weekly with the purpose of making disciples who make disciple-makers. Each time a D-Group meets they share about their week, recite memory verses, share what they have been learning from their time in the Bible reading plan, pray, and then answer the question, “How did you do at sharing Jesus this week?” After the 12-18 months, each person who has gone through the D-Group will commit to finding 3-5 more followers of Jesus and take them through the same process, resulting in discipleship multiplication.

ABOUT
IGNITE CITY YOUTH

Our Youth Group meets several times throughout the month, including Sunday mornings, evenings, and occasionally on weeknights.

One of our desires is for our youth to love the local church and get plugged into the life of our community. To achieve this, our youth are encouraged to be part of the Sunday morning worship gatherings with their family. On the 4th Sunday of each month we have “Youth Sunday” in which the youth come serve, set up, and greet from 9:30-10am, and then after worshipping with the community have their own service with a message geared specifically for them.

We meet most Sunday nights from 5:30-7:30pm for Youth Group in Western Christian’s gym to connect with each other through games, studying the Bible, and small groups. Youth are also mentored and discipled by youth leaders who seek to help them grow in their faith, knowledge, love, and desire to follow Christ.

If you have any specific questions about our youth ministry, use the contact button below or email Zach at zach@ignitecity.church.
