About

Home Church

Home churches are smaller missional communities within Ignite City Church that meet together for dinner, worship, prayer, and time in the word on a regular basis. In other words: to do life together. Instead of them being age-specific, we have intentionally kept them open for all ages, encouraging parents to bring their kids with them like a family gathering. Every person who is part of a home church is encouraged to reach out to others to bring them into the home church, loving and caring for them with a desire to see follow Jesus.

FAQ's

A home church is a small gathering of people of all ages who meet in homes to encourage, pray, support, and do life together as the church.

When Jesus left Earth, He commissioned the church to continue His work until His return (Matthew 28.18-20). As we read the book of Acts, we see the church living missionally to make disciples, reaching out to people who do not know Jesus and meeting together regularly in homes with those who do. We want to create that culture in each home church: a family on mission to reach and care for people and to take care of one another.

The days, frequency of gatherings, and locations vary based on the individual home churches. We encourage people to get involved in a home church that is close to where they live.

If you already know of a home church that you’d like to become part of, please contact the leader(s) of that home church so that they can get you plugged in, or click here to fill out a form and we will help you get connected with a home church in your area.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. – Acts 2.42

Each home church does these same key things:

  • Devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching – we spend time together reading the word and discussing the passage from the previous Sunday’s message.
  • The fellowship, the breaking of bread – we get to spend time together as a family in homes.
  • The prayers – we spend time praying together. And while that is what each home church consists of, the goal is that each home church would act as a family on mission. This could include:
    • Service projects that your home church does together.
    • Day trips and outings.
    • Supporting the kids in your home church at their sporting events, performances…
    • In other words, be a family.

We want to see children grow up loving the church. This happens when children feel welcomed and supported by those in the church community. Home churches make this possible. We know it takes a community to raise a child. Home churches can provide much-needed encouragement to parents and a safe place for children to have fun and feel a part of a greater, loving church family. We encourage families of all ages to join a home church.
